You get no rebate for players under contract. The transaction page wrapup on salary cost/rebate doesn't handle this correctly (future fix). The exception to this is if your player's contract is for 2010 or beyond and his 2009 salary was paid in full this season. In that case, you'll see an asterisk after the contract year on your roster page (e.g., 2011*) and you'd get a pro-rated rebate for the 2009 portion of his salary.

Again, cutting might make sense - but won't be a cash benefit to you.swanjonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13892217015248243980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8118395699332501355.post-64542387852851812042009-05-05T23:57:00.000-04:002009-05-05T23:57:00.000-04:002 things...

Beyond that, the advice is good. There are 2 parts to it.

first on the timing of making changes - you'll usually have 4-5 days to actually make the changes in between game weeks (from the time you're notified transactions are processed to the deadline).

Second - on the nature of the changes you should be making. Dave's comments about an "all weather" lineup are great. Here are a couple things pulled out of the BWB Tour about what BWB is and isn't...

Think of running your BWB team as a conductor and manipulator of trends and expectations, and not as a game-by-game engineering of your lineup.

and

think of primarily building your team - your rotation - your batting order - your bench - as a strong baseball team - not necessarily as a Roto team.swanjonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13892217015248243980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8118395699332501355.post-66222065337555838372009-04-06T20:23:00.000-04:002009-04-06T20:23:00.000-04:00any blog with a milford mohawks reference is worth...any blog with a milford mohawks reference is worth its weight in goldfatpunxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12667497689795969561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8118395699332501355.post-70516283848566132009-04-05T23:05:00.000-04:002009-04-05T23:05:00.000-04:00WOW! It's probably something that will change, but after two rounds of picking the top salaried player available, the 3rd round was to pick a player just added to the BWB player list in 2008.

Typically in the list drafts, these are the type of players that get a lot of action...but I saw that didn't happen at all in the live draft.

While it was potentially a wasted pick for these teams, what it did at least do was to moderate the salary cap issue for them. One thing that showed up in the live draft (I'm guilty too) was overspending and being kind of hamstrung in finishing out the roster.

Probably in future live drafts we need to fully emphasize doing a list in advance...and modify the auto-pick rules to not necessarily pick prospects, but to look for lower salaries. By the third round this time too we were dealing with 6-7 absentees.swanjonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13892217015248243980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8118395699332501355.post-80711194382779199562009-01-13T15:16:00.000-05:002009-01-13T15:16:00.000-05:00Tell me about such a "mistake". 6 straight years ...Tell me about such a "mistake". 6 straight years of division titles (I had 3 2nds in that time). Getting into a league that features The Magician, David Regan. The guy does not sleep and often "liberates" complex, work-related computer models to assemble his teams. Word to the wise: dont post too many our your insights to this blog as he seems to be using it as a way to infiltrate your thoughts and weaknesses!
